My Night with L.I.S.A
Hey Y’all! I know it has been a while since you’ve last heard from me. But I have been a busy bee! I’ve been attending a bunch of networking events and marketing for MaryMac’s Doggie Retreat. However, I am back and focused!
Let’s talk about my night with League in Support of Animals (LISA). Gabbana and I attended an event last Thursday night (March 1, 2018) at the Rusty Nail hosted by the Humane Society of Louisiana. OMG! It was amazing. I was able to get an in-depth history of the Humane Society of LA and the programs that they offer.
The term “L.I.S.A.” derives from the original name of Legislation in Support of Animals as it focused on getting better laws for all animals in Louisiana. However, the Humane Society noticed the need for not only better animal laws but they also a need for better animal shelters and animal cruelty investigators. Therefore the Legislation in Support of Animals changed to the League in Support of Animals (L.I.S.A.).
In addition to animal cruelty investigations, L.I.S.A. also offers an array of programs such as Educational Programs, Mardi Gras Horse Adoptions, Transportation, Adoptions, and Disaster Relief Programs.
Did you know that L.I.S.A. owns the largest no-kill animal shelter called No-Kill Enoch J. Donaldson Animal Sanctuary in Washington parish? How cool is that?
