It’s that time of year again. FALL!!!! The leaves are changing, the air is becoming cooler, and football is in high gear. That means, it's time for festival season in the Big Easy!
I wanted to provide you with a list of dog friendly festivals for the month of October.
Let’s start with OktoberFest. This is a wonderful festival full of German food, music, and BEER!!!!! This is event is taking place over three weekends in New Orleans. Oct 5-6, 12-13, & 19-20. Tickets are $8 and dogs are welcomed.
In the mix of Oktober Fest, NOLA Schnauzer Rescue will be hosting a Parade and Costume Contest on Oct 13th starting at 6pm located at Deutsches Haus, 1700 Moss St. New Orleans La. It’s near Bayou St. John. The parade and costume contest is free, however there is an $8 fee to enter Oktober Fest.
Speaking of Oktober Fest, Dachshund Races will be taking place on the last weekend of Oktober Fest, Oct 20th from 3pm-4pm at Deutsches Haus. It’s $30 to participate, but the $30 is for a good cause. All proceeds go to the Animal Rescue of New Orleans (ARNO).
Bring things a little current, on October 7th, ARNO and the Flamingo A-Go-Go teamed together for Barks and Brunch Howl-O-Ween! This is sounds like sooooooo much fun. Barks and Brunch. Can you imagine how many of our furry friends will be enjoying BRUNCH!!!! Ummmm, I wonder what’s on the menu lol.
Have you ever participated in the Annual Pet Blessing? On October 7, 2018, Christ Church Cathedral will be hosting the Annual Pet Blessing for all of our beloved pets. 6pm -7pm at 2919 St. Charles Ave.
Snout by Snoutwest is hosted by the JSPCA. There will be a ton of activities for both you and your dog to enjoy. There will also be adoptable dogs at this event. Did I mention that MaryMac’s Doggie Retreat will be there selling our famous Peanut Butter Calming Treats! This is event will be held on October 14th, from 11am-4pm located at 2701 Lapalco Blvd, that’s the new JSPCA.
